Man sollte die Stadt Krefeld keineswegs gering schätzen. Vor 108 Jahren dirigierte Gustav Mahler die Welturaufführung seiner 3. Sinfonie. Vor allem aber gilt der Krefelder als ausgesprochen friedlich. Als Wilhelm I. seine Macht als Preußenkaiser mit einer Parade demonstrieren wollte, ging der Krefelder nicht hin. Dafür erschien er 1980 zum „Krefelder Appell“. Vier Jahre später gründete der Kaufmannslehrling Hansi Kürsch die Rockband Lucifer’s Heritage, die 1987 zu Blind Guardian wurde. Eine Band von außerordentlicher Musikalität und Freundlichkeit, um Heavy Metal mit menschlichem Antlitz zu spielen.
